Try out our recommendations for non-alcoholic cocktails this dry January...

With it being dry January, we embarked on a weekday evening non-alcoholic cocktail masterclass last week, which was hosted by Anthropologie.

With everyone having to adapt to the 'new normal' and hold virtual events instead of in-person events, Anthropologie seem to have embraced this fully with a series of online classes subtly linked to their lifestyle products and brand. If you're interested, you can check out their upcoming events listings here. There aren't currently any drinks classes like the one we enrolled on, but there's some home working and creative classes in their current line up...

So onto cocktails...

We're embracing dry January as it feels like a healthy and clear-headed way to start the year, especially with all that's been going on. To liven things up a bit, the non-alcoholic cocktail masterclass really helped spark some easy and creative ways to jazz up our lockdown evenings without needing to go near our alcohol reserves!

We've picked our two favourite non-alcoholic cocktails from the masterclass to share with you below - follow the recipes and steps as closely as possible, and you'll similarly end up with some refreshing homemade cocktails, and feel like a budding mixologist in the process!

Along with standard grocery store ingredients, we had to buy the key non-alcoholic elements, which included:

  • Seedlip: The world's first distilled non-alcoholic spirit, it's sugar-free and sweetener-free

  • Æcorn: Botanical aperitifs (aperitifs are traditionally had before or after a meal, and usually have dry or bitter flavour designed to stimulate your appetite - with these non-alcoholic cocktails these botanical aperitifs provide distinct flavours to give the drinks their stand-out taste)

Here are the all important recipes and steps to follow:

1. CosNOpolitan

  • 30ml Seedlip Spice 94 (this is the Seedlip type we used as we only had one type to hand, but the recommendation if you want to make it according to the exact masterclass recommendations is Seedlip Grove 42)

  • 20ml Æcorn Aromatic

  • 30ml Cranberry Juice

  • 15ml Lime Juice

Shake all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker and fine strain into a chilled Martini glass.

Garnish with an Orange Disc.

2. NOgroni

Pour all the ingredients into a Rocks Glass over ice and briefly stir. Garnish with an Orange Zest.

If you want to try making these at home, here's the shopping list:

The only other thing you'll need are glasses and a cocktail set:
